Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
I doubt this is a genuine one. It looks really crappy inside. I don't think Nintendo would place that nasty black blob instead of using real ICs.

Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
It is a genuine one, that black blob is in every one of nintendo's memory cards.
Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
Genuine, high quality memory card looks like this:
Maybe they cheaped out on these 1019 blocks memcards.
EDIT:
It's fake. It was discussed on gc-forever before: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2474

Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
Rubbish, the largest supported cards are 2043 blocks (16MB/128Mbit).RazorX2014 wrote:This Is The Largest Offical Gamecube Memory Card Released, The Gamecube Doesn't Support Anything Higher..
Edit: It's not a fake either, it's just a later model than the other cards with epoxy applied to prevent probing.

Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
you are correct 2043 blocks is the largest supported, forgot about that
however 1019 blocks is the largest official memory card Nintendo released.

Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
so how much is that in Gigabytes ? how much can i use on a SD Gecko as memorycard?
Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
16MB is 0.015625 gigabytes. An SD gecko cannot be used as a memory card.
Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
Lately I have been toying around the idea of internalizing an SD card slot. I like Ashen's Diagram for his portable trimming guide and used it extensively. I found this to be a good option and I am going to give it a try.

Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
So I wired up an SD socket, my question is do I need to do anything with sense? I installed the SD socket for the purpose of flashing Swiss when my WASP arrives. If I do need sense, where do I need to wire?
Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
You only need to short the sense pins on the GC side, the SD slot sense switch can be ignored. Or you can wire the SD sense to the GC sense and it will work as intended.

Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
Well, what you have is the gc usb adapter. This is a 3rd party accessory.
Own a couple PAL and JPN cubes. And three BBAs. Homeland and PSO I/II.
Re: GameCube Memory Card & SD Gecko Diagrams
Bog standard flash, a custom controller for the GC side and another microcontroller for the USB side. And apparently some SRAM. I guess they use it as a cache of some sorts?GizmoTheGreen wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 3:23 pmSo many chips! 3 + a blob. jesus christ what do they all do lmao
