Hi, I have been doing a fair bit of reading on the forum regarding devices or modchip that would allow to load homebrew via SD or USB thumb drive.
There seems to be no device readily available such as an ODE at the moment.
I am basically trying to understand what are the available options nowadays to load iso or homebrew from SD/HDD aside from getting a Wii (please no Wii)
I am using a SD card thru a memory card adapter with Swiss boot disc and while it works it is very limited to say the least. limited games compatibility, slow down...
Thanks!
Question: available solutions to load homebrew
Re: Question: available solutions to load homebrew
You seem to be confusing homebrew and backups.
Methods to boot homebrew mostly differ in how long they take to boot and how difficult they are to use.
For loading backups with Swiss, you have a few options:
- SD Gecko or IDE-EXI, which you're currently using - Average compatibility, reasonably easy to use.
- Burning discs - Best compatibility, very annoying to get working if you're unlucky.
- ODE - Very good compatibility, hard to find currently, potentially difficult to install.
- USB Gecko - Very slow, rarely tested, not recommended.
- BBA - Incomplete and currently undocumented/hard to use, not recommended.

Re: Question: available solutions to load homebrew
Thanks for your reply and the useful information!
Is WASP the only ODE solution for GC? I will definitely keep a lookout for it.
There is the wasp custom from badassconsoles that seems to be the ideal device.

Re: Question: available solutions to load homebrew
WASP and WODE are the only available options, but hard to find these days because production went out. WASP custom is out of stock. There are much better solutions in development so keep an eye out for these.

Be sure to check the wiki too, it explains all the available methods for booting homebrew
