I have softmodded my Wii but because of reasons such as degrading the laser with discs I don't want to go that route.
I was just wondering what the best "hardmod" option for loading my games from hard disk are? I was set on the wode but is there another option that is not so obtrusive in it's appearance and may be technically better? As long as it has usb loading I am fine.
Best way to play gamecube games from hard disk
Re: Best way to play gamecube games from hard disk
I don't think you have an IDE-EXI adapter (not available anymore), so WODE is the only option for playing GC games off HDD.
Re: Best way to play gamecube games from hard disk
See the Wiikey (or any variation of it) am I right in saying that can boot gamecube games from SD?
The only real reason I was looking for USB was for the bigger storage but if something like the wiikey can do the job with sd I can manage.

WODE or Sundriver is my suggestion.

Correct, with the Wiikey Fusion you can play GC games off SD/SDHC.gameinn wrote:See the Wiikey (or any variation of it) am I right in saying that can boot gamecube games from SD?

Re: Best way to play gamecube games from hard disk
Hi guys.
I was able to get one of those IDE-Exi adapters and bought a (Wiikey) SD Gecko to play games with my loved GC.
But I had to realize that this is not enough, I need a way to get homebrew running. Looking for the SD Media Launcher (30€) I started asking myself which way could be the best getting my games from HDD to work.
I have a Wii with Wode but I don't want my GC to get dusty
I know that I could get the WODE oder Wiikey Fusion to work in GC but then I have to remove the GC "Disc Drive".
So i thought perhaps a Modchip could help me out.
Which way would you prefer when you want to keep you GC Disc Drive.

Re: Best way to play gamecube games from hard disk
cheapest solution would be the XenoGC or a clone of it, which would be even cheaper. there is a big thread about cloning the xenogc on these forums. problem: you will need to burn swiss or some other bomebrew loader on a dvd to boot it. sucks for new versions.
for some more functionality you can buy a viper gc extreme (pm me if you want one) or a qoob pro. you can simply flash swiss to the chip and execute it. that is my #1 choice
