Swiss not loading backups with Wii DVD drive?

Hey everyone, working on my GCp, waiting for my Wiikey Fusion to show up, decided to wire up a Wii DVD drive to my cube just to get familiar with the process. For the most part, the drive seems to be working just fine, I can load regular games, play them, eject them and all that, but I can't seem to load any of my backups through Swiss. I could load them before using my regular DVD drive, so I'm assuming the problem has something to do with patching the code of the Wii dvd drive to run the backup.

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to solve this problem, maybe I just wired something wrong somewhere...

EDIT: Gah, ashen just told me that it has to do with the patching. So, I'm guessing we have to hold on till the next update or is this one of those things that just ain't gonna work?

can you load originals in Swiss from the drive?

I definitely haven't added the case in code that you'd be using an un-patchable drive on a Gamecube with Swiss, I was assuming all gamecube console would only run GC dvd drives

Just tested, yes, originals run fine.

ok if originals run fine then this is not an issue

I cannot patch a wii dvd drive from software, so this is the expected behaviour.

Huh. Well, that's cool. So, anyone want me to test anything with this drive? I suppose I don't have much of anything else to do with it now.

Maybe it depends on DVD drive type.

Starting from August 2009 Nontendo mounted the D3-2 version of DVD drive wich implement protection also in DVD firmware (like on the Xbox). In this case you can't run any DVD backup.
