SD-Media Launcher (PAL) on DOL-001 JPN

Hi Guys!

My friend have bought a SD-Media Launcher for PAL consoles... (but I'm not certain this). But he have a DOL-001 JPN cube.

The answer is: SD-Media can run ok (but black & white) or DOL-001 never running other than NTSC (games or loaders)?

If running in B&W, the SD-BOOT solves the problem of region with NTSC Isos right?

One more thing: the cube is unmoded!

Unfortunately, SD Media Launcher isn't going to boot up on an unmodified out of region console. You need to purchase the correct JPN version, or get a USA version and region modify the console to be able to switch between the two (USA/JPN) and run it in USA mode.

I'm not sure if you can do Freeloader and then the SD Media Launcher.. It might think it is the same disc you are closing the lid on but I am not 100% sure on that one. If you're going to put money on buying Freeloader for JPN/USA, you might as well find a JPN or USA SD Media Launcher and then region modify the console to be USA or JPN mode. (Simple 2 resistors closed for a switch).

The newer version which is purchasable now contains both freeloader and ar and have updated boot code to reflect datel and codejunkies.
The old versions still have the boot code from NHL Hitz 20-02.

I can confirm that a 1.06b freeloader and a latest release sd media launcher can and do work in tandem
My Panasonic Q (JPN NGC) will load freeloader (which is region free) and then load a PAL version of SD
Media Launcher - which can then successfully load GCOS or emulator dol files - sdboot should also work
but I have not tried that as yet...

If freeloader doesnt load an original game correctly perhaps GCOS will...
So far this combo works great!

Are you sure the freeloader disc is universal? I'm going to buy one too if it is for my Panasonic Q

Freeloader 1.06b and before are completely region
free for all gamecube regions - the box even states
that you can use the disc to play any region game on
any region gamecube (the codejunkies website also
states this)

whatever apploader/bootloader datel uses it is not region
dependant although funnily enough when they made these
discs Wii compatible they broke region free booting on NGC

this is why I have a sd media launcher that only boots on a PAL
console - but funnily enough a NGC only freeloader (ie 1.06b
and under) will change my region and allow me to boot SDML pal
