Pressed discs - get them made?
I'm wondering if it's possible to get pressed discs made so that one could boot swiss on a cube without a modchip? Maybe when Swiss reaches a stable release point, one could get a bunch of pressed discs made? I'm curious if this is possible and what the cost would be.
Re: Pressed discs - get them made?
ask Datel
they were the only ones to ever press discs that are not licensed by nintendo.
i think the costs wouldn't be worth the hassle
BUT there are people researching GC/Wii or better NR/RVT disc structure right now so it might be possible in the near future to actually burn discs that are readable

please search before you ask - a lot has been discussed already!

Datel used a diamond disc cutter and glued the middle of disc from bankrupt stock of pressed games, Crazy Taxi for the PS2 and NFL Blitz 2002 for the GC.

No, but's it's truth the first inner ring is what what they cut out it has lines pointing outwards before the slighly thicker ring with the codes. Mates brother used to work at Datel before joining the evil M, he's now a headteacher at some school.
emu_kidid had to make a fix for sd-boot because all datel's gc discs's would boot as NTSC which screwed up the video mode for the menu display of sd-boot on pal gc's so he changed it to get the true region from IPL instead.
They used 990716_1514 for PS1 disc's but i've never been able to track down what game it's from.

Re: Pressed discs - get them made?
I was thinking that someone knew of a company in China that could manufacture them. Thinking about it some more, maybe it's too difficult for them? I mean, I have seen pirate gameboy/gbc/gba cartridges but I can't recall if I ever saw a pirate GC disc. You would think if it's possible to do, they would have started producing counterfeits.liquitt wrote:ask Datelthey were the only ones to ever press discs that are not licensed by nintendo.
