Solid blue led on wkf: completely dead?

Post by keropi » Wed Jul 17, 2013 7:28 pm

Hiya!
this gc mod is giving me all sorts of troubles... was working fine until I decided to swiss-autoboot it... bricked it and used 1.2 recovery successfully. But after a while it stopped responding, now the blue led is solid ON upon boot and after a while you get the red error screen.
Checked connections, checked voltages, replaced pin29 switch , no dice. It won't even recognize the recovery SD.
I can't see how the actel bootloader could be so corrupt that the recovery iso won't load at all... what I know is that
a. I got a verify error on 1.5 upgrade (but not on 1.2 recovery)
b. I don't trust the source I got it from, there was an "OK" written on the wkf's little bag but it was not sealed.

I'm all out of ideas, before I order another from megalomaniac, is there a chance I restore this? Is this a common "bad install" error or is it dead? It was working before I started updating/downgrading.
TIA for any info!

Most likely it's still working fine and only has a loose wire somewhere..
Check the new switch to make sure pin29 has GND

If that's not the issue then check all the other 20 something wires...

thanks, gonna check them for good when I hopefully get some stuff from you... done messing with the gc atm because any more tinkering and the magic smoke will get out... LOL

Yeah I said this in the other thread. My wiikey fusion had a solid blue light and crashed during the verify part of updating to 1.5 firmware too. I redid my soldering and all these problems magically went away. You may have connections to the right spots but maybe something is bridged somewhere.
