Depends what modchip you have.
xenoGC and other disc modchips, yes.
Wiikey Fusion, Wasp, Wode don't need sd gecko (sd slot on modchip).
If you don't have a modchip you can use SD media launcher or something like that.

Re: Sd card loading question
You can either use the program that comes with it already installed on the chip, or you can download swiss.
Note that some games do have its issues.
With swiss installed you just put your games on the sd card via filebrowser and put it in.
without swiss you have to use wbfs manager 4 to add and remove games.
I prefer swiss, it has loads of settings such as force 578p.
Installing a WKF is really hard however, and you might want to invest in a megadrive (one of the plug and play versions).

578p is the best resolution ever.

Yes. You put the gamefiles anywhere in the sd card and insert it into the WKF. Then you browse through folders with swiss to launch any game you want, or homebrew. Swiss can also play music, not while you play games though which would be awesome (better note this emukidid ;) ).Hubbawhat wrote:Do I boot games through the sd card slot that goes into the wkf?
With swiss you can also load games from sdgecko, or harddisk (if you have an adapter from IDE to EXI made for gamecube).
If you get the megadrive v4 you can load games from sd, and dvd (The other installation methods allow only for sd loading).
